Support from Yamato Logistics to include the entire order-to-cash process for Cordis
Tokyo, Japan - Cardinal Health Japan and Yamato Logistics Co., Ltd. today announced that the two companies have entered into a strategic agreement enabling Yamato Logistics to provide logistics support for Cordis, Cardinal Health's interventional vascular business, in Japan. In this agreement, Yamato Logistics will manage all of Cordis' logistics operations from order to payment and delivery in Japan.
The healthcare market in Japan is steadily expanding due to issues associated with the ageing society, and as a result demand for medicine and medical equipment will increase going forward.

Cardinal Health Japan was established when Cardinal Health acquired Cordis to set up its interventional vascular business. In Japan, Cordis, a Cardinal Health company, provides high-quality products such as diagnostic and interventional catheters, balloons, self-expanding stents, guide wires, and vascular closure devices. In November 2016, Cardinal Health Japan announced two strategic agreements enabling Cordis to expand its range of products offered for its interventional cardiovascular business.

In this strategic agreement, Cardinal Health will leverage Yamato Logistics' existing logistics network and expertise in Japan to efficiently respond to increasing demands going forward.
By utilizing Yamato Group's delivery network, which has a strong foundation both in Japan and overseas, this partnership will provide consistent and convenient internal logistics services from import clearing to delivery within Japan.
A dedicated Cardinal Health Japan order placement and management center will be established, which can handle inquiries from orders, sales inputs, issuing invoices and managing deposits.
A core business system, also known as enterprise resource planning (ERP), will be implemented in order to effectively utilize Cardinal Health Japan's management resources. The Yamato Group will support system planning, operation, improvement, and maintenance as well as support collaboration with other systems.
The agreement represents Yamato's most comprehensive logistics support to an overseas company. Following the agreement with Cardinal Health, Yamato Logistics plans to provide a similar offering to other overseas companies considering entry into or expansion of their businesses in the Japanese market.
